The Tsar’s Guard Parade Tour: The Crown’s Game

The Crown’s Game, an upcoming YA debut set in Russia, is coming out in 2016! I’m so excited for this book, and I jumped on the chance to promote it in The Tsar’s Guard Parade. Evelyn Skye, the author, is the sweetest person, (I’ve actually met her!!) and I’m happy to help her and hopefully get more people to buy The Crown’s Game!

In this post, I’m going to be sharing 8 reasons why I’m excited for The Crown’s Game.

8 Reasons Why I’m Excited For The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

1. It’s set in RUSSIA.

I love reading books in Russia (0r any country that’s not the US, actually, because it’s more interesting that way) or books that have a Russian influence.

2. A magical competition?!?!

The main plot of the book is the two main characters competing against each other, with their magic! It sounds amazing.

3. FOOD.

Cait at Paper Fury said in her review that there was delicious food in The Crown’s Game, and so immediately I became even more excited for it.

4. It’s been getting good reviews from bloggers and reviewers I trust.

I mean, I would hate to be SO excited for it and see it getting lots of negative reviews. But I’ve seen a lot of good things about it!

Isn’t it gorgeous? I just love everything about it.

6. There is an amazing preorder thingy going on!

You can get The Crown’s Game goodies by preordering it!! HERE is a link with more information.

7. One of the main character’s names is Nikolai.

Judge me all you want, folks, but I love the name Nikolai, and that MAY or may not be related to the fact that I love Nikolai from the Grisha Trilogy.

8. A love triangle that’s well done.

While I am not a huge fan of love triangles, I CAN enjoy a well-done one. And I’ve heard good things about this one, which makes me excited!

Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the Tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.

And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the Tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.

Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?

For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.

And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love . . . or be killed himself.

As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear . . . the Crown’s Game is not one to lose.

About Evelyn:

Evelyn Skye was once offered a job by the C.I.A., she not-so-secretly wishes she was on “So You Think You Can Dance,” and if you challenge her to a pizza-eating contest, she guarantees she will win. When she isn’t writing, Evelyn can be found chasing her daughter on the playground or sitting on the couch, immersed in a good book and eating way too many cookies. THE CROWN’S GAME is her first novel. Evelyn can be found online at and on Twitter @EvelynSkyeYA.
