50 Already Released Diverse Books On My TBR

There are so many diverse books releasing this year that I’ve been talking about constantly. I wrote a blog post about 6o of them! But recently, I felt like I’d been neglecting all the amazing diverse books that have already come out. That’s where today’s post comes in.

In this post, I’m going to be making a long list of diverse books that have already released and are on my TBR so you can check them out right away, instead of having to wait months for them to come out.

Since I’ve read a relatively large amount of diverse books (especially popular diverse books), I’m keeping this list to books I haven’t read and are on my TBR in the hope that you’ll discover new books to read as well!

(This post was inspired by this one, and all credit goes to Weezie for this idea!)

I’ve divided the post into three categories: books with LGBTQIAP+ characters, books with POC characters, and books with (physically and mentally) disabled characters. These are not the only types of diversity in YA, but it’s what I’ve organized this post by, as they are some of the most common. Some of the books in this post have multiple facets of diversity, and I’ve tried to mention that!

Without further ado, here are 50 already released diverse books on my TBR.

  5. Thanks so much for this post!! Both books I’ve read by David Leviathan (Two Boys Kissing and Every Day) were really really good! Another LGBTQIAP+ book you should add to your list is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. It’s probably my favorite book ever!!!

  6. This is such an important post and yuuss many of them are on my TBR too. Personally though I wasnt a fan of Rose and the Dagger (I barely managed to go on with Wrath and Dawn), but Made You Up sounds really good

  7. I’ve read a lot of the ones on your POC list or have them on my TBR! I’ve reviewed Everything I Never Told You, Written In The Stars, The Secret Of A Heart Note, Mirror In The Sky, and Serpentine, on my blog and though I don’t include star ratings in my reviews, they were all in the 4-5 star range for me. Under a Painted Sky was a 5-star read for me, but I need to reread it to write a review for it, lol. 🙂

Not Your Sidekick was one of my favorite books from 2016! You’ll probably love it. Ash and Huntress are breathtaking, and Ash will be on its way to you soon. 😉

Right now my TBR is mostly diverse books that are already out, and I’m wondering how I’m going to keep up with new releases while not neglecting the older ones because there are so many diverse books coming out this year. >.>

  9. Great list, Ava! I’ve read a fair amount of these, but some of my favorites from this list have been Out on Good Behavior and Not Otherwise Specified. Soooo many more of these are on my TBR, though. And your list definitely gave me more to add, so thanks! 🙂

  10. Every Day and More Than This are two of my favorite books! Every Day is really special to me because of nonbinary rep. You should read it immediately. I would also add Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe to your list! It’s LGBT and the protagonists are Mexican American. =]
