me, the blogger!

Hello! My name is Ava, and I’m the blogger here at Bookishness and Tea. I currently reside in northern California, and am a teenager who (quite obviously) adores books. I also enjoy photography, and dream of traveling the world while blogging and writing. I love all things book related, as well as TV shows, traveling, writing, being barefoot, mountains, autumn, and penguins. Besides books, music is my everything, and is something I could not live without. If you’re curious, I especially love: Oh Wonder, The 1975, Twenty One Pilots, Lana Del Rey, and Panic! At The Disco. I enjoy social media, and love that it allows me to meet people worldwide who share a love of books. I’m an advocate for diversity and an intersectional feminist, and love reading books that feature characters different and like me, by authors of color, LGBTQIAP+, neurodiverse, and disabled authors.

the writer

Oh, hey, it’s me again! I also love to write, and have way too many ideas and not enough time to write them all. I participate in NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNo every year, and I’ve currently won NaNo once, but hopefully that number will increase in future years. I write YA books featuring diverse characters, and my dream is to get one published. If you’re a writer as well, I offer sensitivity and beta reads. You can learn more about them here.

this blog

This blog is titled bookishnessandtea because it basically describes my life perfectly: I love books, and all kinds of tea. On this blog, you’ll find discussions, blogging tips, sometimes reviews, and a whole lot of other things. This blog has an emphasis on diversity and diverse books, and that is much of what you will see here. I will not tolerate hate or discrimination here; it’s a safe space for me and all others that visit this blog.

Let’s be friends! My bookstagram is @bookishnessandtea, if you’d like to see lots and lots of book related pictures. My twitter is @bookishwithtea, if you would like to get to know me a little better. To see the books I read, you can check out my Goodreads. And for business purposes only, you can always email me at bookishnessandtea@gmail.com!

  2. Hey, I really like the style of your blog and what you write! You’ve already got your blog noticed, in 3 months! I can’t wait to start reading more of your fantastic posts. Your blog has been such a great success, way better than mine, (considering I’ve been blogging for nearly two years!!) and I really think that you should carry on with blogging. You’ve got tagged and honoured with many blogging awards! I’m really looking forward to following!!

  3. I wish you the best on your blogging journey! You’ve started off so young and already have such a great blog up and running 🙂
Best wishes from Cezane and Michelle 🙂

  4. I know it’s already been said, but you are doing very well for a 13 year old. It is awesome to see young people that actually have a functioning brain and don’t mangle the English language.
There is hope for humanity yet!
    Keep it up.

  5. Hiya, it’s great to see a young person so passionate about books. I’m a teen librarian and I have a lot of readers at my library but none have had the passion to start a blog. Be sure to develop a friendship with your local teen librarian, they have all kinds of hook ups.

  6. I started my first blog when I was 13, and I have to say, you’re wayyy ahead of my old one. Congrats! My 13 year old self could have definitely learned something from you. Haha 🙂 I love your blog and you’re doing great, so keep it up!

    1. Hi! I’m actually pretty new too (I’ve only been blogging for about 3 months!) but I’d love to help you! I think your blog looks pretty good so far. Remember to not plagiarize. Even if you change a few words, it’s still plagiarizing. Write in your own voice, not like a robot! People want to hear what you think, not a stiff voice. And write what you feel. Don’t blog for the ARCs. People will be able to tell. When you write reviews, make them how you want them! If you want a 1500 word review dissecting the book, then do it! If you want a 5 sentence summary of what you thought, do that! And post what you want. Don’t post just what you think book bloggers post. Be unique! Think of creative posts! That’s what’ll bring traffic for your blog. Good luck! ❤
