ALA Book Haul: 25 Upcoming Books To Have On Your Radar

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that I recently attended ALAAC – American Library Association Annual Conference – in Chicago! I had a lot of fun, met so many people, and discovered multitudes of upcoming books that I am excited for and want to share with you.

I’ve never done a book haul on this blog before, but they are all over booktube and bookstagram, so why can’t bloggers be a part of that, too? Because this is my blog, I’m making it a thing. It most likely won’t be a regular thing, but it is happening. And because of what my blog focuses on, the majority of these titles will be diverse. What else did you expect?

I’m not spotlighting every title I saw/received at ALA; instead, I’m picking and choosing the ones I’m most excited about and/or the ones that deserve more attention.

(If you click on the book title, you’ll be taken to the book’s Goodreads page. The books are organized by release date.)

Without further ado, here are 25 upcoming titles from ALA that should be on your radar!

  4. You already know how I feel about This Darkness Mine *insert eyes emoji here* I’m super excited for all the big name books on here (Lu, Perkins, etc.) but I’m actually really excited to try reading Whichwood? You know I hardly *ever* read MG so I can’t wait to see what it’s like.

    1. I WILL READ IT ASAP, I SWEAR. And you haven’t read Warcross yet?? Goddamnit Alex, we can’t be friends. And me too about Whichwood – it looks so good (although I wish it was a YA, honestly, because it could make a great one.) I’m hoping I like it! (I made my sis read Furthermore last year and she loved it so much she read it twice, and I want to see what she thinks, too)

  7. I have read Girl with the Red Balloon and Wild Beauty. Both were very good. I especially loved Wild Beauty. McLemore’s writing it that lovely, lyrical type of writing that I go ga-ga for. I am looking forward to so many of these. You have some epic reading ahead of you.

  10. I am so bloody excited for Beasts Made of Night, Wild Beauty and Mask of Shadows. I cannot wait for them to be released. I’m also looking forward to seeing people discuss Epic Crush of Genie Lo, because I loved it and I want everyone else to finally be able to read it.

I’m still waiting for reviews for Whichwood and The Belles.

I’ll most probably read Shadowhouse Fall, because even though I didn’t love the first book, I did enjoy it and I want to know how the story carries on.

Which books from this list did you like the most? Which are you still looking forward to reading, if you haven’t read all yet?

    1. All 3 of those look FANTASTIC, and I can personally vouch for the amazingness of Wild Beauty – I loved it so, so much. I also enjoyed Genie Lo, and I’m so happy you did, too!!

I’ve heard great things about The Belles, and can’t wait to read it. For Whichwood, I’m on the same page as you – I’m still looking for reviews!

I liked Shadowshaper, and I hope I like Shadowhouse Fall even more – I also hope you decide to check it out.

I’ve read 9/25 of these, and my favorites are: Little & Lion, The Girl With The Red Balloon, Warcross, Wild Beauty, 27 Hours, and Dear Martin! I HIGHLY recommend all of those. I’m really excited to read: Love Hate & Other Filters, Beasts Made of Night, Jane Unlimited, and Rebel Seoul!
